Foodie Christmas Ideas 1200 1800 Lo

When else in the year can you legitimately have a cheeseboard on the go from morning till night?

One of the major perks of winter is that no one will judge you for eating cheese, chocolate and basically anything bad for you all day long! Here are some great foodie treats to have a go at making at home.

Christmas Cake

Mary Berry’s been making her Christmas cake recipe for as long as Paul Hollywood’s been alive. She knows what she’s talking about. We thought we’d use her recipe and decorated ourselves. For recipe click here.

Mince Pies

Stollen Mince Pies

A combination of two festive favourites, would it be Christmas without a mince pie or two? A mixture of mincemeat, marzipan and Madeira Cake, these sweet treats are perfect for parties or for leaving out on Christmas Eve for Father Christmas. for full recipe click here.

Marzipan Pudding

Marzipan Christmas Puddings

These little marzipan balls are simply made with leftovers from my christmas cake. I rolled up leftover marzipan dipped in chocolate and decorated to look like miniature pudding with fondant icing. Simple but great just to have sat on the table post dinner party.

cheese and chocolate

Local Cheese and Truffles

With so many great farm shops and delis around, its never been easier to have some great local treats around the house this season, from Burro Burro in Ramsgate, KG Winters in Margate the amazing farm shop and deli and Quex Park in Birchington. Makes sure you shop some local this christmas.

Hot Chocolate

A Hot-Nut hot chocolate

Here is one for the grown-ups. Make your favourite hot chocolate as normal and then simply add in 50ml of Hazelnut Vodka Liqueur (or orange depending on your fancy)

Et Voila, the perfect winter warmer.
